God and the power of I don’t know …
It was around the time when I was being inducted into the ideology of God that I was also being baptised into the powerful doctrine of the phrase (I think it is religion) “I don’t know” .While the concept of God was sold to me by my parents , the idea of “I don’t know” was the indomitable wisdom handed down to me by very revered peers from primary school …..
There were quite a few influential ones…but, some stood out ( outside the class …I mean ) and sometimes they spent some of their most useful hours explaining mystical concepts to our principal …some called it “time out” at principal’s office …but I truly think it was experiments in understanding the “ god particle ”…and guess what …these outstanding students were famous …and probably would have featured on YouTube if it was available back then . They had the most profound answers to all their worthy experiments with flying chalk , flying planes ( made of paper ) ….boy!… like Albert Einstein explains ….they were just passionately curious , to understand what happens when things fly …and I was passionately curious to understand what happens when it lands ( some like to study cause and some study effects…I wanted to graduate in effects) .
The result (hypothesis) : when something defies gravity make sure you, your teacher or parent are not standing in the line of fire ….profound isn’t it ….this is just the initial finding . The most memorable answer that has stuck with me till date ( has a stickiness factor )is the answer to the question : q) who did this ? answer : I DON’T KNOW : q) why did you do this : answer : I DON’T KNOW … q) what do we do with this child: answer: honestly ….I DON’T KNOW ….and the best part is that this is the only answer that “saves people” …have tried …God , Oh my God …etc ….not effective ….but I DON’T KNOW for some divine reason always seemed to work.
Years passed, experiments changed, the flying of ideas continued and my study of the cause and effects just grew …I guess being passionately curious helps ….but the thought that kept me confused for most of the time was the conflict of power between God and “I don’t know” …and then !
One fine day (like I always believe all realisations occur on “one fine day”)….It just occurred to me that every time I have said I DON’T KNOW. …something in my head gets activated ….you could relate this to salivating , hunger , desperation …,the pimple on the nose ….just before the date ….the part where you say “ I do ” not knowing what happens next (….imagine saying I DON’T KNOW …instead of I DO) ….see …it is so much more profound and powerful as compared to saying GOD…….The point I’m trying to make here is( I DON’T KNOW) that, it drives every nerve in your body to TO KNOW ….and to be eternally curious ( akin to GOD …may be …I DON’T KNOW ).
It is at this point in time that my understanding of all things around started revealing a natural structure …a reasoning ..the power of WHY…they exist or happen .I was beginning to understand “ the effect ” of people , things , incidents and milestones….that I did not know or realise earlier on …and understood a certain sequence that had long been torturing my belief system .
I DON’T KNOW + (followed by) WHY = GOD (the power to understand, reason and appreciate everybody, everything and most importantly…Yourself)…. not the one my parents introduced me to (sold) …who was meant to watch over me if I was eating or not or if I was being naughty. Normally or usually …people receive either a Nobel prize …if one found my equation (its earth shattering good …isn’t it ..?) to be empirical enough or an Oscar would do …if it were dramatic enough …but to me …It was as though I had figured how to get rid of the pimple before the date.
So, the next time you find yourself saying I DON’T KNOW (you are going to be famous and outstanding)….try not to stop at that ….follow through (as in a golf swing) with a WHY….….stay focused(keep your eyes “ always ”on the ball) ….and sure enough …you will figure your GOD !
